Individual offering

What it changes
Solve the gap standard components leave.
Unusual belongings or awkward dimensions sometimes need a solution beyond standard storage. We assess the problem, compare available products, and develop a fitted or fabricated element where it offers a better result.
Begin your projectBefore the products
The decisions that shape the result.
Establish the reason for custom work
A partition, detailing setup, or storage solution starts with what you want the room to make possible. We compare standard products with custom options and identify where a tailored approach would make a meaningful difference.
Design how it will be used
We plan around the activity, equipment, and people using the space. Dimensions, reach, movement, and access are checked against the rest of the room so the solution works in everyday use.
Choose the construction carefully
Materials, fixings, hardware, and finishes need to suit the purpose and garage conditions. We resolve how the custom elements will be built, fitted, and integrated with the room before work begins.
From selection to use
How the work comes together.
Define the need
Measure the contents and identify the limitation that standard products do not address.
Develop the approach
Compare fabrication and adaptation, explaining the implications for access, finish, and use.
Build and fit
Source materials, fabricate or adapt the selected solution, and install it within the room.
Check the result
Confirm that the contents fit, demonstrate movement and access, and explain care and loading.
After Installation
If the way you use the space changes, Garage Zen can help rethink the setup or plan adaptations that build on the original design.
Garage Zen project · In practice
A place for the things ordinary bins could not hold.

Garage Zen fabricated a wheeled birch-plywood storage cabinet with white doors and chrome pulls for Christmas trees and holiday decorations. It addressed a specific storage requirement alongside the standard overhead and wall systems.

Details before you decide.
When is custom work worth considering?
When standard products do not fit the space or the job. We compare available options first, then consider fabrication where it would solve a problem a regular cabinet, shelf, or rack cannot.
Can a homeowner’s idea inform a custom solution?
Yes. A sketch or reference can be a useful starting point. We review the dimensions, materials, loading, and access it would require, then explain what is feasible and where the idea may need refinement. The proposal makes the agreed work and any limits clear.
Will a custom piece match the other storage?
We consider its finish, proportions, and hardware alongside the surrounding room. An exact factory-finish match is not always possible, so we discuss how the pieces will look together before fabrication.
What types of custom work does Garage Zen undertake?
Garage Zen is not a general contractor. Our custom work covers garage-specific fabrication and adaptations within our scope. Any part requiring specialist design, licensing, or permits is identified for the appropriate qualified professionals.
Can custom elements accommodate future changes?
Some pieces can be adapted more easily than others. Tell us about likely changes so we can consider removable parts, access for repairs, or other useful flexibility. We explain any limits before the design is approved.
