Finding the right fit

Is Garage Zen right for our project?

Garage Zen works with homeowners who want a more useful, attractive garage and a considered approach to making it happen. That may mean planning the whole room or improving a specific part of it. Design, product selection, installation, and final setup are connected around your priorities. Preparation and organization support that work; we do not offer standalone cleanouts or hauling.

Which areas do you serve?

We serve Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, and Bradenton. Include your ZIP code and community when you inquire so we can confirm that your location and project are a fit.

How do we begin, and is the onsite consultation complimentary?

We begin with a call to discuss your garage, location, and priorities. If the project is a good fit, we arrange a complimentary onsite consultation to review the space together. We look at how you use the room, take relevant measurements, and discuss the possibilities before developing a proposal.

What should we prepare before getting in touch?

You do not need an empty garage, a product list, or a finished brief. Start with what is difficult about the room and what you would like to change. Photographs are useful, and seeing the garage in everyday use helps us understand its demands. If you have not moved in yet, share the plans and information available; final measurements and conditions are verified onsite.

Understanding the proposal

How do we choose between a transformation and a targeted upgrade?

We work through that decision with you. A complete transformation considers the garage as a whole when parking, storage, finishes, and activities need to be planned together. Targeted upgrades address a defined priority or a connected group of improvements. Both receive the same attention to planning and implementation. In either case, we build on what already works and recommend changes for a clear reason. Compare the two approaches

What determines the project cost?

The proposal is developed for your garage and the work you choose. It accounts for preparation, materials, systems, accessories, installation, and organization, including any custom work. You can see the selections, responsibilities, and what is included before approving the project. Any exclusions or assumptions are explained alongside the work.

Can the work be completed in phases?

Often, yes. We consider later improvements when planning the first phase, including access for painting or flooring and space for future storage. If an initial upgrade would need to be removed or substantially changed later, we explain that before you commit. Requested changes are reviewed with you before proceeding, including their effect on products already ordered, cost, and the agreed work.

Working in your home

Who will plan and carry out the work?

Joe Meccia remains directly involved from the first conversation through installation and the final walkthrough. Garage Zen sources the selected systems and carries out its installation work, with care for your home, routine, and neighbors. Garage Zen is not a general contractor. Where electrical, HVAC, or other work requires a license or permit, the appropriate qualified professionals and their responsibilities are identified before that work begins. What happens to vehicles and belongings during the project?

We agree on access, protection, and temporary placement before work begins. Flooring needs a clear slab and time to cure; other improvements may allow belongings to be staged within the garage. The proposal explains who moves items and what must remain accessible. Any offsite storage, hauling, or disposal is arranged separately unless specifically included. Decisions about keeping or removing belongings remain yours.

Can the project be managed while we are away?

Yes, when access, approvals, and communication can be arranged. We agree how decisions will be reviewed and how you will receive updates. For The Seasonal Reset, the homeowner stayed involved remotely and received finished photographs, video, and a virtual walkthrough. We discuss the arrangements that suit your project before work begins. View The Seasonal Reset

What happens at the final walkthrough?

We review the finished work together, demonstrate the installed systems, and explain access, adjustments, weight limits, and care. The organization and setup included in your proposal are completed, and any remaining details are identified with clear next steps. Applicable product and workmanship terms are confirmed in the project documents; coverage depends on the products and work involved.

Can Garage Zen help as our needs change?

Ongoing Garage Care is available for completed Garage Zen rooms. Seasonal rotation, organization, cleaning, or adjustments can help the space continue to serve your household. We discuss the work, any new products, and additional charges before arranging a visit. Follow-up care is agreed separately, not an automatic subscription. Learn about Ongoing Garage Care
